Let's not talk about the soup kitchens, homeless shelters, hospitals, health clinics,senior citizen communities, nursing homes, etc.. that the churches do and JWs don't- nope, let's just pretend we didn't notice that charity is everyplace, but in the KH.

WTF are you talking about? I have never proclaimed that the JWs have the truth. You obviously didn't understand the context of what I wrote.

i woke up and nearly put my foot on a 2ft long snake that somehow got up to the 2nd floor.

i screamed and ran out of the room and started crying.

i hate snakes and am terrified of them.

The effectiveness of it is beside the point. The door-to-door work is what makes them feel unique. It sets them apart from other religions. Sure, other religions preach, and convert people. But JWs are the only ones preaching in this particular way. And the fact that they are doing something no other religion is doing feeds their belief that they are somehow special, chosen by God.

Did you have to try another church or religion on your way to unbelief?

back in 1992 when i was slowly extricating my way out of the wacthtower, there was no internet, smart phones or any other type of quick data download available.

i had basically 3 choices to obtain viewpoints from ex-jw's.. #1 - go to go to the library and look for books critical of the society.

#2 - go to a christian book store to look for the same.. #3 - order item like these from addresses or phone numbers listed in the back of these publications.. and while doing any of these things, you were always looking over your shoulder to see if any "brothers" were around.. the problem i experienced is that virtually all of these books, while giving you good reason to doubt the watchtower, always pointed to "christendom" as the way you needed to go.

Short answer- no.

I began having serious doubts about the bible itself. That's what led to the questioning of my JW beliefs, and eventually my exit out of the religion.

I don't believe that game was a reflection on the Packers, as much as the 49ers really are a threat this year.

I'll give you that. The Niners are my preseason SB pick, along with the Ravens. It wasn't a horrible loss. Still, it was pretty discouraging to see that the Packers defense hasn't improved at all since last year.

Packers should breeze through Chicago next week.

I don't know about breeze. The Bears will be tough this year, especially with the addition of Brandon Marshall. How far they go will depend on whether or not they can keep Jay Cutler upright. They were 6-3 last year before he went down.
